Beer description
A tribute to the old Grätzer Rauchbier.
Piwo Grodziskie is a traditional beer specialty from Poland. This historic beer style owes its name to the town of Grätz or Grodzisk Wielkopolski, located southwest of Poznań. This smooth, top-fermented beer was already being brewed and enjoyed here in the Middle Ages. Over the course of the 20th century, it fell more and more into oblivion and eventually disappeared altogether. It was only in the wake of the Polish craft beer movement that Grodziskie made a well-deserved comeback: in 2010, the Pinta brewery breathed new life into the old beer style.
In 2025, Grodziskie will celebrate its 15th anniversary. To mark this anniversary, Schlenkerla has now created its own interpretation of this classic Polish beer: Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier nach Grätzer Art. To make it, we dry smoked wheat malt in our own malt house over an open oak fire. For the fruity, aromatic hop notes, we use aroma hops from Lubelski.
The result is a bottom-fermented, smooth beer with a light smoky aroma, fruity hop notes, fine carbonation, and a very moderate alcohol content.
