Balthasar led the monastery in difficult times. Not only was Osek ravaged several times in the 15th century by the Hussites, but his property was also sold by the “friendly” Emperor Sigismund. Balthasar tried to repair or rebuild the farm and church buildings. However, the monastery was indebted and after Balthasar's death he went under the Prague Archbishopric.
Bottom fermented beer, brewed by a combination of five malts. The aroma is lightly coffee, coffee is also reflected in the taste along with roasted malt. Balthasar beer has a medium flavor and drier, pleasantly bitter aftertaste.
