With the »Silent Night Festival Beer«, the private brewery Schnaitl from Gundertshausen pays tribute to the world's most famous Christmas carol in a very special way: "Almost everyone in the family likes to sing 'Silent Night, Holy Night'. The fact that the song was composed in our neighborhood was one more reason for us to honor it with our own beer composition," says brewery boss Matthias Schnaitl IV. Brewed and bottled at Christmas time, the mahogany-colored "Silent Night Festival Beer" goes well with ruby red Sparkle and ivory-colored foam, ideal for a relaxing end to a day of Advent, as a companion to Christmas dinner with the family or Christmas bakeries. The bottom-fermented special beer with an original gravity of 14.5° Plato and an alcohol content of 6.3% vol impresses with its caramel-malty, toffee and bitter chocolate taste and a perfectly warming bittersweet finish. The world hit from Oberndorf Today, "Silent Night, Holy Night" is sung in over 300 languages and dialects and is one of the most popular Christmas carols in the world. It has its origins in Oberndorf (in Salzburg's Flachgau region): it was there in 1818 that the village school teacher and organist Franz Xaver Gruber and priest Josef Mohr sang their composition together for the first time. Years earlier, Mohr had written the text as a poem and asked Gruber to set it to music. Today the song is part of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage and is regularly reinterpreted by well-known singers. Bing Cosby's 1935 version has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.
