Max & Malz - Steam Beer

It happened in California, where they learned about wheat beer and the new Pilsner yeast in 1860. However, the recipe and yeast were exchanged and a top-fermented beer made from lager yeast was obtained. For lack of refrigeration, the boiling brew was pumped onto the factory roofs, where the cold air of the Pacific Ocean cooled the beer. According to legend, the rising clouds of steam from these breweries gave the beer its name.
