Zichovec - Winter Affair Gossip Escafandrista

For the third year in a row, we’ve been hosting the Winter Affair international beer tasting festival, and for just as long, we’ve been brewing collaborative batches with some of the participating breweries. It’s a unique opportunity to get to know each other better, share interesting insights, and combine our expertise. The beers created as part of the Winter Affair Gossip series are the result of these meetings—they bring together beer worlds, unique recipes, and a love for the craft across countries and continents. This year, we managed to bring the Brazilian brewery Cervejaria Escafandrista to the festival, one of the most interesting breweries in South America. A truly exclusive event, and since they had made the journey across the ocean, it was clear that a collaborative brew was in order. Together, we decided on a beer inspired by the iconic Brazilian cocktail, the caipirinha. To the base of a light sour ale, we added juicy passion fruit, limes, and a dash of authentic cachaça—a sugarcane spirit with a subtly earthy, warming character. The result is a distinctly refreshing Sour Ale with a tropical aroma, lively citrus acidity, and a slightly exotic finish that will transport you in spirit a few thousand kilometers south. A light body, fruity juiciness, and a touch of Brazil in every sip.
