Description
The sale of the Eichhof brewery meant a bitter loss for many beer lovers in Lucerne. For many consumers, identification with the regional beer culture was lost. For us, it was the starting signal to brew our own beer. In spring 2008, we founded the Brauverein Luzern with friends with the aim of producing our own beer. Brewing is done according to old craft tradition in an open pan in a laundry room. Without additives, filtration and pasteurization, the beer is bottled in classic swing-top bottles and then left to mature in the bottle for eight weeks. The first bottles from the brewery's own production delighted not only the members of the brewing association, but also everyone else who had the chance to taste the homebrew. Very quickly it became clear that the production capacity of the brewing association would never be sufficient to satisfy the demand for "Luzerner Bier". So we decided to take a more professional approach to planning and building a regional brewery. That was the birth of Brauerei Luzern AG on April 1, 2009. In a good year of development work, the share capital was raised and the infrastructure required for production was evaluated. In November 2009 - after the successful completion of the share capital increase - the most important contracts were awarded. As early as March 2010, the installation of the brewhouse, the fermentation and storage tanks, and the necessary technical equipment finally began. The big moment finally followed on April 15, 2010, when our brewmaster was able to brew the first brew of "Luzerner Bier - Original".
