Description

The roots of the Herrnbräu brand go back to the 17th century. In 1817 they set up a restaurant and attached brewery in the Georgianum, after the previously housed seminary had moved together with the University to Landshut or Munich. At that time, a dozen Ingolstadt breweries joined together to form the "Actienbrauerei", one of the first public limited companies in Germany at all. In 1882 a second stock brewery, the Bürgerliche Brauhaus Ingolstadt, was founded in Ingolstadt. Since the mid-sixties the brewery sells its beers under the brand name "Herrnbraü". On April 1, 2008, Herrnbräu acquired the trademark rights to the Ingolstadt brewery Ingobräu. For the 500th anniversary of the Reinheitsgebote Herrenbräu built 2016 in one of the original breweries, the inn Daniel, again a guest brewery.
