Description

The civic brewery in Chomutov has two names in its name: Karásek and Stülpner. Jan Karásek was a robber and a smuggler, working mainly in the Saxon border area. Karel Stülpner was a famous poacher whose district was almost borderless - North Bohemia and part of Germany. Both were called Czech Jánošík, never killed a man, helped the poor and harmed. Their names and fates were combined in one book by the writer Quvidon of Fels, who wrote about them the robber novel Karásek and Stülpner (A. Hynek, Prague 1908).
