Description

Oddly enough, our story is based on drinking beer: drink many beers from breweries around the world. The Oedipus brew dates back to the days when founders Alex, Paul, Sander and Rick worked in other renowned beer bars. In the beer temple, we discovered a number of flavors that we were not used to drinking in the Netherlands. Although we have participated in many Dutch beer events, slurping festivals abroad has really helped to open our eyes, fantasies and taste buds to new possibilities. We were amazed to see young people - both men and women - enjoying craft beer. Our own love for beer and the encounter with a variety of alternative tastes have motivated us to become part of a beer community where like-minded people enjoy the beauty and variety of this drink. From then on, our mission became clear: Transform the Dutch beer landscape by providing quality beer and appeal to everyone. Before we could change the beer, we first had to learn how to make something really delicious. Like most amateurs we brew ourselves in our kitchen. Nevertheless, we have been serious from the beginning - experiment with a variety of ingredients and carefully log our recipes and results. From the beginning, diversity and the science of good taste were the key to our approach. That's why we decided to brew a different recipe every week and then divide those batches into different fermenters. This has taught us a lot about ingredients, styles, fermentation and brewing techniques. Similar to today, we brewed some crazy beers! The basics How did we learn to brew? Practice, try, practice, talk to countless local and professional brewers, practice more and try more. Our approach was: Anyone can be a homebrew and should not be discouraged by the technical aspects of making beer. By relying on an active community or on homebrewers (and their YouTube videos), we were able to fix problems and repair our own brewing equipment. Delighted that our first batches do not need to be rinsed, we grind the taste test. However, we did not drink all the beer ourselves, but decided to keep most of the bottles in order to enjoy, share and criticize them. The feedback from our friends, family, fellow brewers and festivalgoers is still a critical part of the process of refining Oedipus beers.
