Boyne Downstream Hybrid

Originally brewed at Mourne Mountains Brewery for Ireland Craft Beers, now brewed at Boyne Brewhouse. The Simcoe Cryo hops gives Hybrid IPL masses of tropical fruit, grapefruit and a sweet and sticky stone fruit aroma with a layer of pine. The taste is interesting, as the colour leads you to think that the beer will be quite malty sweet, but the lager yeast has kept it very clean with the merest hint of roast malt in the background. Perceived bitterness has risen markedly with the dry hop compared to what we tasted on brew day, it’s a very hoppy beer. No ‘solid malt backbones’ here.
