A Hoplite Soldier was the most common type of heavily armed foot-soldier in ancient Greece from the 7th to 4th centuries BC, and most ordinary citizens of Greek city-states were expected to suit up and make themselves available for the role when necessary. If the Holplites were craft beer drinkers, they would need a flavorful, light-bodied, lower-alcohol IPA to keep them on their toes in case a battle ensued. Hoplite has the massive hop aroma and flavor profile of a traditional IPA, with the sessionable characteristics of a lower alcohol beer.
