Bierbeschreibung
In his historical novel The Trumpet Major, British author Thomas Hardy (1840-1928) provided a rather enticing description of a syrupy, malty, extra strong beer: barley wine. Brewery version is inspired by the pure English tradition of this style. The generous use of hops lends a solid bitterness when young that mellows with age as it protects the beer from the ravages of time. Ale de Hardy presents strong malted barley flavors accented by notes of caramel, dried fruit and a warming sensation from the higher alcohol content. Over time notes of port wine, black cherry and maple taffy may emerge.
