Each in its own time. But right now is the right time to release Kalmanakka. This beer has been waiting for its release for several moons. It is a beer that moves on the borderlands of eras, walking somewhere in between the past and the future – combining the soft sides of barley wine and the sharper sides of West Coast IPA. So definitely not your average barley wine. Kalmanakka is definitely robust, but not stiff. The soft sweetness and deceptive depth of caramel malts quickly change to gum-piercing pine needles and grating grapefruit. A beer with a strength of 9.5% may tempt you for a moment, but beware – Kalmanakka can put you in a trance with its percentages. When your time comes, you can't back down.
