The home brewery is part of the U Hastrmana restaurant at Velký Rybník. Domácí Pivovar Velkorybnický Hastrman started brewing beer here on 13th March 2005. It was just a test batch, so the first batch was brewed on a kitchen stove. Beer tasted the visitors, and so the administrative carousel started, thanks to which the beer was officially sold only in September 2006 under the brand Velkorybnický Hastrman. By the end of this year, 50hl of beer had been brewed. Over the next year, they verified that their beer was competitive because it sold more than 200hl. Only three varieties were cooked - light Eleven, light Twelve, and semi-dark Thirteen. Over time, two more kinds were added to their permanent offer - Dark Lager (12) and Old Czech White Beer. After gaining experience, rebuilding the brewhouse, fermenting room and lager cellar, they could afford to brew specialties, among which the most popular are sweet-eared, honey, smoky and New Zealand from the category of bottom-fermented beers and ale and alto from top-fermented beers.
