Beschreibung

The first written mention of the brewery dates from the turn of the 16th century, when the brewery together with the entire Kounice estate exchanged Prokop Dvořecký of Olbramovice with Jan Rudolf Trčka. In the 18th century, the exhibitions of the Kounický brewery reached up to 1,300 hectoliters of beer per year. In 1884, the Klusáček family bought the brewery and malt house, which had been the tenant of the brewery in Český Brod for two generations. During this period the annual beer production in Kounice reached 3500-5000 hectoliters. The construction of new modern breweries in Český Brod, Nymburk, as well as the developing brewery in Kostelec nad Černými lesy were a big competition, and in 1900 František Klusáček finished beer production in Kounice and rebuilt the whole building into a malt house. Until 1948, when the malt house was nationalized, it produced malt mainly for breweries in Prague. After nationalization it belonged to Commercial Maltsters. In 1992 the malt house was returned to the Klusáček family as part of its restitution. At the beginning of 2011 ing Karel Klusáček together with Jan Žižka decided to build a microbrewery and founded the company Kounický pivovar s.r.o. After 1.5 years of construction preparations and later construction, the first batch of Kounický lager was brewed in August 2012, thus renewing the tradition of brewing beer in Kounice after 112 years. The brewery is located in the buildings of the medieval brewery and adjacent stables, which until recently served as a malt house, as a storage space.
