The brewery bearing the name Hostivar is built in the Prague 15 region on the border of two cadasters, Hostivař and Horní Měcholupy. It was therefore not possible to succumb to the idea of naming the first brewery in the history of this area and its beer just named Hostivar. The anniversaries believe that the village of Hostivar - Gostivar was named after a person living here who “cooked or protected guests”. Hostivar is already mentioned by the chronicler Kosmas in the Czech Chronicle. The story of 1068 tells us that at that time Jaromir, brother of Prince Vratislav II, is coming to Prague, with the support of some magnates, to enforce his brother's right to become the new bishop of Prague. Vratislav II, then prince, because he will become the first Czech king seventeen years later, was afraid of the possible attack of his brothers and decided to comply with Jaromir. "Jaromir stopped the camp with his supporters in front of Prague in the meadows near the village of Gostivar, where he sent messengers to ask his brother whether he would elect him as bishop of Prague and if he would accept him in peace," writes the chronicler. Today the brewery stands on the doorstep of Hostivar and the good Hostivar brews locals and pilgrims. Inspired by the ancient history, tradition and honest skills of Czech brewers, they brew beer as it was before the great beer industrialization, ie water, hops and malt, without pasteurization and filtering. Pivovar Hostivar believe that the great taste of Hostivar and their hospitality will bring you back soon
