Pivovar Lyer

In January 2014, a new brewery with an annual capacity of approximately 1,000 hl was opened in Modrava, in the very center of the Šumava National Park. Beers will be brewed under the Lyer brand, especially with regard to future clients, which are tourists in summer and cross-country skiers in winter, especially draft beers, as well as lagers and special beers. The brand Lyer means the name of the owner Ing. Radovan Lyer, who also owns the well-known Modrava boarding house in Modrava, which was once the Bienert factory for the production of soundboards from deep-resonant spruce wood. A special feature of the machinery of this mini-brewery is probably the first time the use of a heat pump for cooling wort and fermentation and lager tanks in the simultaneous production of hot water. The application of this device should significantly reduce the energy consumption of the mini-brewery. The brewer of the new brewery will be Mr. Jaroslav Kouba, who previously worked in the Dalešice brewery
