Brewer's Advent Day #16: Hohenthanner Blau Weisse

Another Bavarian brewery with a long brewing tradition. It is over 150 years old and continuously owned by the Rauchenecker family. The village of Hohenthann is located near the hop gardens of the Hallertau. The brewmaster knows the hop farmers personally, visits the fields again and again during the summer to see if the "green gold," as he affectionately calls the hops, is growing and thriving.

For his wheat Ale called "Blau Weiss" (blue white), Johannes Rauchenecker chose the two flavorhops Hallertau Cascade and Hüll Melon. They conjure up citrusy impressions with hints of honeydew melon into the glass. Classic Bavarian brewing art with a modern twist.

Cheers!
