Brewer's Advent Day #19: Zwönitzer Rauchbier

Since 1997, the small brewpub Zwönitz has existed in the tranquil little town in the middle of the Ore Mountains in eastern Germany, called Zwönitz. Dominik Naumann is both owner and brewmaster. He took over the family business from his father in 2011. Dominik combines traditional brewing skills with the joy of experimentation of a craft brewer. He is particularly passionate about the beer style RAUCHBIER, which has almost fallen into oblivion. He knows not everyone likes the smoky flavors that are so reminiscent of smoked ham. Anyone who has ever combined a smoke beer with BBQ will never forget this beer & food pairing.

Zwönitz Rauchbier: Chestnut brown color with creamy, dense foam. Smoke aromas are accompanied by caramel notes. The taste is also slightly smoky. The bitterness is subtle and has a very balancing effect. With this beer, either you love it or you don't.
