The Ankerbraeu Noerdlingen was a brewery in Bavaria. The origin of the brewery dates back to 1608. Most recently (2016), the brewery employed around 20 people. The name "Ankerbraeu" (anchor brewery) is derived from the symbol of the anchor, which has its origin as a tavern symbol, which signaled to the guests a safe harbour for the night. In January 2016, the management announced that the brewery would cease production on 30 September 2016 for economic reasons (rising cost pressure, changing consumer behavior and limited technical and construction options at the historic site). Since October 2016, the beers are produced by the Fürst Wallerstein Brauhaus GmbH according to the Ankerbräu recipe.
