Ingolstadt in the 17th century. The Bavarian Purity Law was about a hundred years old when the Herrnbräu brewery was founded. At that time there were about a dozen breweries in the city. They joined forces and formed one of the first joint stock companies in Germany - the "Actienbrauerei Ingolstadt". Since the 1960s, the beers have been sold under the brand name "Herrnbräu".
The range of Herrnbräu's products is characterized by various lagers. Pale lager, Pilsner, dark lager, Kellerbier (cellar beer) and, for Christmas, a bock beer. A lot of wheat ales complete the selection.
Herrnbräu Zwickl
In German-speaking countries, "Zwickl" refers to those beers that are not filtered. Often these naturally cloudy beers are also called "Kellerbier" (cellar beer). Our example is a pale, unfiltered lager with a nice cloudiness. Floral hop notes, plus the aroma of fresh bread and yeast. Soft on the palate with well-integrated carbonation. Full-bodied. Perhaps you may taste blossom honey and fruity notes. A delicate bitterness accompanies the Zwickl into the long aftertaste.
