Malt from Ukraine

As Inside.beer reported, the markets reacted vehemently to the Russian attack during the night. Prices for grain, oil and energy rose sharply. This was due to fears that supplies from the Black Sea region could decline.

Inside.beer writes: "Ukraine is central to the supply of grain to Europe and around the world. Rich, fertile soils have made Ukraine a leading grain exporter. The Black Sea region is considered the granary of the world. The ports are located along the Sea of Azov - connected to the Black Sea by a strait between Russia and Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014 - and on the Black Sea coast further west. The southwestern ports of Odessa, Pivdennyi, Mykolayiv and Chornomorsk handle nearly 80 percent of Ukraine's grain exports, according to research firm UkrAgroConsult. Concerns about the security of these supply streams are growing after Russia ordered military operations in Ukraine."
